Research Nurse – Clinical Trials Outpatient Unit

About the role

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center seeks a Research Nurse to join its Clinical Trials Outpatient Unit. In this position you will provide direct patient care while supporting the execution of federally funded clinical studies focused on obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and dementia.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate outpatient clinical trial activities with investigators, sponsors, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure protocol compliance and participant safety.
• Administer investigational medications and injectable study products according to study protocols, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor participants for adverse reactions, document all activities accurately, and report findings to the study team.
• Assess and promote participant adherence to study drug regimens through observation, interviews, and follow‑up.
• Provide individualized education and counseling to research participants about study procedures, risks, and benefits.
• Maintain regulatory documentation, including informed consent forms, case report forms, and source documents.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Experience in clinical research or clinical trial nursing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and FDA/IRB regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
