Research Associate

About the role

The Texas A&M Transportation Institute seeks a Research Associate to independently perform engineering and technical research, including data collection, machine‑learning programming, and computational modeling. The role requires extensive field travel and on‑site work at the Bryan headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork and data collection (over 50% of effort).
• Process, analyze, synthesize, and perform quality checks on collected data.
• Develop machine‑learning algorithms and Python code.
• Perform computational modeling and numerical simulations.
• Carry out literature reviews and data searches.
• Document data, prepare reports and proposals, and assist with laboratory testing as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering‑related field (preferably Civil Engineering).
• At least two years of relevant experience, including fieldwork and data analysis.
• Valid U.S. Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work beyond normal business hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with machine‑learning techniques and data analysis.
• Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
