Research Associate I – Hossain Laboratory

About the role

The Hossain Laboratory at UAMS seeks a Research Associate I to advance novel immunotherapies against solid cancers. Working under the Principal Investigator, you will design experiments, monitor progress, and analyze data in a collaborative, mentorship‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct molecular studies such as RNA and protein isolation, gene and protein expression analysis, and flow cytometry.
• Perform routine cell and tissue culture, lentiviral transductions, and evaluate in‑vitro efficacy of immunotherapies.
• Execute surgical procedures to establish in‑vivo tumor models and assess therapeutic effects.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant proposals, and scientific presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least four years of relevant research experience.
• Understanding of biology, pharmacology, and physiology principles.
• Proficiency in handling laboratory animals and performing both surgical and non‑surgical procedures.

Required skills

• RNA and protein isolation techniques.
• Gene expression analysis (PCR, Western blot).
• Cell sorting, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
• Cell culture, lentiviral and adenoviral transduction.
• Animal surgery and in‑vivo tumor model establishment.
• Data management, biostatistics, and scientific presentation preparation.
