Research Associate 2 – Neuroscience Lab

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Department of SCCC is seeking a full‑time Research Associate 2 to join Petrucelli’s neuroscience laboratory. The role focuses on molecular mechanisms of disease, genetic regulation, and cell‑based functional assays, supporting experimental design, data analysis, and collaborative research.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialized experiments such as Western blot, immunofluorescence, CRISPR‑Cas9 gene editing, and bacterial transformation.
• Culture and maintain mammalian cell lines, conduct transient transfections, and develop stable cell lines.
• Collect, organize, and analyze data using software tools like PyMOL, GraphPad Prism, CellProfiler, ImageJ, and SnapGene.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records, draft figures and method descriptions for manuscripts, and assist with grant‑related data preparation.
• Support laboratory operations through inventory management, equipment monitoring, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility and ability to adapt to new protocols.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Technical proficiency with office and scientific software applications.
