About the role

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami is seeking a Per Diem Research Associate 1 to support laboratory research activities. This entry‑level position offers the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in biomedical research while contributing to the institute’s mission of advancing eye health.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and follow research protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, collect and prepare specimens or tissue cultures.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Perform routine assays, tests, and statistical analysis of results.
• Document findings, assist in manuscript preparation, and contribute to publications.
• Ensure compliance with good research practice and university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (or equivalent).
• No prior professional experience required; strong learning agility.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
