Research Associate 1 – Biomedical Research

About the role

The Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute is seeking a full‑time Research Associate 1 to work on‑site at the Biomedical Research Building in Miami, FL. The associate supports research activities by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned projects and advancing expertise through continued education and training.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and follow research protocols and procedures.
• Collect, prepare, analyze, dissect, and evaluate specimens or tissue cultures.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine assays, tests, and studies.
• Perform calculations, collect data, and conduct statistical analysis of laboratory results.
• Participate in the publication of significant research findings.
• Ensure all research complies with good research practice and university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (required).
• No prior experience required; entry‑level candidates are welcome.
• Learning agility to adopt new procedures, technologies, and protocols.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Technical proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.

Required skills

• Flow cytometry (acquisition and analysis).
• Protein work including ELISA, Western blot, and staining.
• Cell culture techniques.
• RNA analysis such as qPCR.
• DNA work including genotyping.
• Microbiology techniques.
• Basic animal maintenance.
