Research Associate 1 – Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Research Associate 1 to support projects on mitochondrial regulation of leukemic/hematopoietic stem cells and red blood cell maturation. Working under senior staff, you will conduct basic and translational research using both in‑vitro cell culture and in‑vivo mouse models.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain mouse colonies, collect tissue samples, and extract DNA, RNA, and protein.
• Perform molecular biology techniques to analyze DNA, RNA, and proteins.
• Conduct microscopic analyses, flow cytometry, and FACS sorting.
• Record detailed laboratory notes (physical and electronic) documenting experimental design, procedures, results, and interpretations.
• Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and other scientific communications.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine assays and statistical analyses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field; Master’s degree preferred.
• No prior professional experience required; prior laboratory research experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
