Research Assistant – Translational Cancer Research

About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the Ibt Center for Translational Cancer Research at Texas A&M University Health Science Center in Houston. The role involves hands‑on laboratory work, animal handling, and data preparation to advance liver and cancer biology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct bench‑work experiments and technical procedures related to cancer and liver biology.
• Maintain rat and mouse colonies, administer chemical or patch treatments, and monitor responses.
• Perform oral tissue biopsies, tissue harvesting, and histological analysis.
• Prepare samples and data for statistical analysis.
• Order scientific supplies, manage laboratory inventory, and ensure a safe work environment.
• Assist in writing and editing manuscripts and other scientific communications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, animal science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with rodent handling and colony maintenance.
• Familiarity with oral tissue biopsy, histology, and liver or aging biology research.
• Ability to work collaboratively and multitask in a fast‑paced laboratory.
