Research Assistant – Alpine, TX

About the role

The Research Assistant supports advanced ecological and agricultural research projects at the Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. The position involves designing and coordinating field and laboratory studies, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting with greenhouse operations in Alpine, Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, designing, and executing field and laboratory research projects.
• Collect, organize, and maintain detailed research data and documentation.
• Perform statistical analyses and technical evaluations using appropriate software.
• Install, operate, maintain, and repair laboratory and field equipment.
• Manage greenhouse operations and support related research activities.
• Prepare reports, invoices, and other project documentation.
• Assist with grant proposal development and financial tracking.
• Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students involved in research.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R).
• Laboratory and field research techniques.
• Operation and maintenance of research and farm equipment.
