Research Assistant 1 – Dermatology Department

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology seeks a full‑time Research Assistant 1 to support ongoing dermatology research projects. The role combines laboratory work, clerical support, and collaboration with faculty and clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and perform minor repairs on scientific apparatus; order and maintain laboratory supplies and culture media reagents.
• Prepare correspondence, answer phones, and manage bibliographies, applications, and forms related to research protocols.
• Maintain study logs, source documentation, regulatory files, and research notebooks while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and IRB requirements.
• Assist with specimen collection, labeling, transport, and documentation at authorized UM clinic locations under supervision.
• Support preparation, editing, and scheduling of manuscripts, abstracts, and educational materials, including the dermatology handbook on immunomodulatory systemic therapies.
• Participate in departmental research meetings, seminars, and collaborative activities, and shadow Prof. Lars E. French in clinic two half‑days per week.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent (or relevant experience, certification, or license).
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a research or laboratory setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assignments accurately.
• Capability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and work evenings, nights, or weekends as needed.
