Remote Tax Preparer (CCH Tax Software)

About the role

A US-based CPA firm is looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to prepare business and trust returns for its client portfolio. The focus is on Form 1120-S (S-Corporation), Form 1065 (Partnership) and Form 1041 (Trust and Estate) returns. The position is fully remote, production-oriented with a steady volume of returns, and requires hands-on proficiency with CCH tax software, which is a hard requirement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Form 1120-S, Form 1065 and Form 1041 returns accurately and in line with current tax law
• Input and organise client financial data in CCH tax software to produce complete, review-ready return packages
• Review source documents, financial statements and prior-year returns for accuracy and consistency
• Follow up with clients or internal staff to obtain missing information
• Flag technical issues and complex items needing CPA review
• Meet internal deadlines and manage a queue of returns during peak periods
• Maintain complete workpapers and respond promptly to reviewer feedback
• Stay current with tax law changes affecting S-Corporations, partnerships and trusts

Required profile

• Hands-on experience preparing Form 1120-S, Form 1065 and/or Form 1041 returns
• Minimum 2 years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting or CPA firm
• Strong working knowledge of pass-through entity taxation, fiduciary income tax and federal and state filing requirements
• Ability to read financial statements, general ledgers and K-1s
• Attention to detail and reliable workpaper documentation
• Preferred: CPA license, multi-state filing experience, familiarity with CCH Axcess workflow, and experience in a paperless or cloud-based environment
