Remote STEM Professor Fellowship – AI Research

About the role

Handshake is seeking experienced STEM faculty and qualified graduate candidates to join its AI Fellowship program. This remote, asynchronous position allows experts to contribute to the development and evaluation of large language models (LLMs) within their scientific domain.

Key responsibilities

• Design and refine domain‑specific prompts for LLMs.
• Evaluate model responses for accuracy and relevance.
• Conduct independent research on topics of interest, supported by AI tools.
• Collaborate asynchronously with leading AI labs and fellow participants.
• Contribute findings to improve AI capabilities across mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, or engineering.

Required profile

• Current or emeritus faculty (assistant, associate, or full professor) in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Engineering.
• U.S.-based individuals with valid employment authorization (including eligible doctoral students and recent graduates).
• Ability to work independently in an asynchronous, remote environment.
• Confidence that your domain expertise exceeds current AI performance in your field.
