Remote Staff Pharmacist – Mail‑Order Specialty Pharmacy

About the role

This position is for a Staff Pharmacist working remotely in a closed‑door mail‑order specialty pharmacy. You will ensure patients receive the correct medications safely and accurately while providing clinical guidance and phone‑based counseling.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve incoming and outgoing medication orders, verifying drug, dose, strength, directions, quantity, and patient information.
• Conduct detailed prescription review and data quality checks for clinical accuracy and drug utilization compliance.
• Identify and document orders that fall outside FDA‑approved labeling or program guidelines.
• Approve orders exceeding FDA dose maximums when supported by appropriate clinical documentation.
• Oversee pharmacy technicians in preparation, processing, and dispensing of medications.
• Communicate with prescribers and provider offices via phone to clarify orders and resolve prescription‑related questions.
• Provide patient and family education over the phone, including medication usage, side effects, and safety strategies.
• Monitor drug therapies, identify potential interactions, and support optimal therapeutic outcomes.
• Report adverse events and product complaints in accordance with regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and program guidelines.

Required profile

• Ability to review and approve prescriptions with clinical accuracy.
• Experience communicating with prescribers, patients, and pharmacy staff by phone.
• Knowledge of FDA labeling, drug utilization review, and REMS requirements.
• Capability to supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure regulatory compliance.
