Remote Staff Pharmacist – Mail Order Specialty Pharmacy

About the role

This is a 12‑month contract position for a Staff Pharmacist working remotely in a closed‑door mail‑order specialty pharmacy. You will ensure patients receive the correct medications safely, provide clinical guidance, and support patients and providers through phone‑based counseling.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve incoming and outgoing medication orders, verifying drug, dose, strength, directions, quantity, and patient information.
• Conduct detailed prescription review and data quality checks for clinical accuracy and drug utilization compliance.
• Identify and document orders that fall outside FDA‑approved labeling or exceed dose maximums, ensuring appropriate justification.
• Oversee pharmacy technicians in preparation, processing, and dispensing of medications.
• Communicate with prescribers, provider offices, pharmacies, and members via phone to clarify orders and resolve prescription‑related questions.
• Provide patient and family education on medication use, side effects, and safety.
• Monitor drug therapies for appropriate use, drug interactions, and optimal therapeutic outcomes.
• Report adverse events and product complaints in accordance with regulations.
• Conduct outreach, follow‑up, and counseling to meet REMS and other regulatory program requirements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of pharmacy laws, FDA regulations, and professional standards.

Required profile

• Active pharmacist license with ability to maintain continuing education requirements.
• Experience in prescription verification, clinical documentation review, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong verbal communication skills for phone‑based counseling and provider interaction.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
