Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Reliability Engineer will play a key role in improving uptime and reliability of manufacturing equipment, infrastructure and site utilities at Sandvik Coromant. The position uses engineering analysis, predictive tools and continuous‑improvement strategies to ensure safety, minimise failures and reduce maintenance costs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve preventive, predictive and reliability‑centered maintenance programs for production equipment, facilities and utility systems.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to establish asset criticality rankings that drive prioritisation of reliability initiatives.
• Implement condition‑monitoring techniques such as thermography, oil analysis, vibration analysis and ultrasound to support condition‑based maintenance.
• Analyse equipment failure data, work‑order history and monitoring data using RCA and FMEA tools to identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to eliminate “bad actor” equipment through optimisation of PM/PdM/CBM strategies, training and spare‑parts management.
• Provide technical support for equipment installation, modification and relocation, maintaining documentation and databases.
• Administer and improve the CMMS, creating SOPs, maintenance plans, spare‑parts lists and performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of maintenance/reliability experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Organised, self‑motivated professional with strong teamwork and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• CMMS administration and SOP development.
• Condition‑monitoring techniques: thermography, oil analysis, vibration analysis, ultrasound.
• Root‑cause analysis (RCA), reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
• Data analysis and reporting using Power BI and Excel.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment, CNC, robotics and process utilities.
