Machine Grind Operator II (4th Shift/Weekend)

About the role

Sandvik Coromant is seeking a mechanically‑inclined professional to join its Westminster, SC manufacturing team as a Machine Grind Operator II. The role focuses on operating and setting up robotized grinding equipment on the 4th (weekend) shift, ensuring products meet strict quality and blueprint specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Select and prioritize jobs using the Shop Floor Control System.
• Set up and operate robotized top and bottom grinding, ER, and ELB equipment according to work instructions.
• Develop and modify basic CNC programs to support production needs.
• Adjust machine parameters, perform robot calibrations, and verify process capability with SPC.
• Use Roll‑ER and PER measurement systems to confirm conformance to specifications.
• Conduct visual inspections and monitor equipment performance for efficiency targets.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and assist peers and engineers.
• Perform routine equipment and tooling maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or machining environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Robotized grinding equipment operation (top/bottom grinding, ER, ELB).
• CNC programming and machine parameter adjustment.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability verification.
• Roll‑ER and PER measurement system usage.
• Precision measuring devices and visual inspection techniques.
• Blueprint interpretation.
