Reliability Engineer – Asset Reliability & Safety

About the role

The Reliability Engineer will ensure the reliability, integrity, and safety of all assets at the Koch Methanol St James facility. This position creates significant value by preventing equipment failures, supporting maintenance planning, and driving continuous improvement across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Lead root‑cause analyses of high‑impact equipment failures and present corrective actions to site leadership.
• Collect and analyse reliability metrics to identify under‑performing equipment (bad actors).
• Develop and implement reliability programs aimed at eliminating fixed‑equipment threats.
• Support preventive and proactive maintenance planning for critical assets.
• Conduct fitness‑for‑service (FFS) and risk‑based inspection (RBI) analyses to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Assist capital projects involving fixed equipment, including scope development, material selection, design review, and construction oversight.
• Participate in cross‑site technical teams to keep internal engineering practices competitive and up‑to‑date.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and other engineering disciplines to resolve equipment‑related challenges.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of reliability engineering experience (or 10 years of equivalent industrial manufacturing experience).
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Physical ability to wear PPE in designated areas and climb up to 150 ft when required.
• Eligibility for employment without visa sponsorship.

Required skills

• Experience with medium/high‑pressure steam turbines (desired).
• Familiarity with API certifications (e.g., API 510, 570, 653, 610, 580, 581) – desirable.
• Inspection techniques, NDE methods, and fitness‑for‑service assessments.
• Knowledge of ASME, API, and ANSI codes and standards.
