Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – PRN/Per Diem

About the role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides pulmonary care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in critical, non‑critical, and chronic settings. Working under physician direction with minimal supervision, the RRT assesses patients, implements respiratory care plans, and performs a wide range of technical procedures throughout the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency codes (Blue and White) and manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
• Deliver aerosolized medications and manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and other airway support devices.
• Perform oral hygiene, place and maintain airway retaining devices, and operate oxygen delivery systems.
• Analyze chest films, collect and interpret blood gases, and review EKGs.
• Document all care accurately, clean and stock equipment, and support CAP and Joint Commission surveys.
• May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader; advanced duties can include therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO₂), pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assistance, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO₂ studies, polysomnography, and patient transport.

Required profile

• Current RT or RCP license in the state of employment.
• BLS certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC.
• 1–3 years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• Availability for PRN/Per Diem shifts.
