Registered Respiratory Therapist – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist on a per‑diem (temporary) basis. You will join a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to deliver high‑quality cardiopulmonary care and support research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cardiopulmonary tests such as electrocardiograms, stress testing and lung capacity measurements.
• Operate and maintain mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, aerosol generators and other respiratory equipment.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage, teach breathing exercises and educate patients and families on disease management.
• Read physician orders, measure arterial blood gases, and determine appropriate therapy parameters.
• Document patient information, monitor vital signs and report adverse reactions to physicians.
• Supervise and train respiratory therapy students, technicians and assistants.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience; certification/licensure as required by the department.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant respiratory therapy experience.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork orientation and effective written and verbal communication.
