Registered Respiratory Therapist (Level 3) – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (Level 3) to join a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. The role focuses on diagnosing and managing pulmonary disorders through advanced testing and therapeutic interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function tests, flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopies, and arterial blood gas sampling.
• Conduct electrocardiograms, stress tests, and lung capacity assessments to evaluate cardiopulmonary function.
• Operate and monitor mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, environmental control units, and aerosol generators.
• Assist physicians in cardiac and pulmonary research and support bronchoscopy procedures.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, breathing exercises, and proper use of respiratory equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and ensure respiratory equipment is clean, tested, and functional.
• Supervise and train respiratory therapy students, technicians, and assistants.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience, certification, or license.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant respiratory therapy experience.
• Adherence to university and unit policies, with a focus on patient safety.
