Registered Respiratory Therapist (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive respiratory care within its academic health system. The role involves direct patient care, equipment management, and education of patients, families, and trainees.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cardiopulmonary tests such as electrocardiograms, stress tests, and lung capacity assessments.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and guide patients through breathing exercises.
• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, environmental control units, and aerosol generators.
• Read physician prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and determine appropriate therapy parameters.
• Educate patients and families on disease management, medication use, and respiratory equipment.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and ensure respiratory equipment is clean, tested, and safe.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); certification in respiratory therapy or related specialty.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant respiratory therapy experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed and handle confidential information with discretion.

• Operation of mechanical ventilators.
