Registered Nurse – Surgical Oncology (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a full‑time Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Oncology specialty within the Medical Surgical Telemetry unit. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered, culturally competent care while adhering to evidence‑based standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Report changes in patient condition, vital signs, and diagnostic test results to the care team.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance to support their integration.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates must complete BSN within 2 years).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in surgical or oncology settings.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, and health‑safety guidelines.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
