Registered Nurse – Surgical Oncology (Full-time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Oncology team at UHealth Tower. The RN will provide patient‑family centered, culturally competent care using evidence‑based practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results, and collaborate with physicians and other professionals to develop care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, taking age and cultural considerations into account.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team, and facilitate smooth transitions of care.
• Assist with discharge planning and prioritize assignments to deliver superior patient care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and operating medical equipment safely.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology or surgical settings.
