Registered Nurse – Step Down Respiratory (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Department of Step Down Respiratory at the University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality patient care in the U‑Tower unit. The Staff Nurse will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients with respiratory needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, including assessment, medication administration, and monitoring of respiratory status.
• Coordinate care plans with physicians, respiratory therapists and other team members.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans and self‑care techniques.
• Document nursing interventions and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit meetings.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates must complete BSN within 2 years).
• Current Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Minimum one year of medical‑surgical nursing experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in clinical assessment and respiratory care techniques.
• Ability to use electronic health record systems for documentation.
