Registered Nurse – Stem Cell Transplant (Inpatient)

About the role

The Registered Nurse 2 provides patient‑family centered care on the Stem Cell Transplant inpatient unit at the University of Miami. The role emphasizes culturally competent, evidence‑based practice while supporting patients through complex treatments.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records per regulatory standards.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and transition of care using available resources.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates must complete BSN within 2 years).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
