Registered Nurse – Specialty – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Specialty Registered Nurse on a per‑diem, on‑call basis to deliver patient‑centered care in a culturally competent environment. This role supports evidence‑based practice and ensures high standards of safety and quality for the patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Complete patient assessments, document interactions, and make referrals as needed.
• Demonstrate advanced competency in the assigned specialty area.
• Administer medications and treatments while maintaining accurate regulatory records.
• Reassess interventions, evaluate diagnoses, and update care plans based on patient status.
• Communicate care plans clearly to patients, families, and the care team.
• Participate in policy, procedure, and protocol development and ensure best‑practice compliance.
• Represent nursing on committees and task forces.
• Initiate discharge planning at admission and involve the patient’s support network.
• Manage workload, prioritize assignments, and adapt to changing demands.
• Provide feedback to staff, serve as preceptor, and act as Charge or Resource Nurse when required.
• Lead unit‑level projects that improve patient care, safety, or experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Florida RN licensure.
