Registered Nurse – Specialty (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 to provide specialty nursing care to assigned patients. The role involves comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and foster a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to facilitate patient transition.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and ensure safe operation of medical equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Active Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, and health‑safety guidelines.
• Strong problem‑solving and interpersonal communication abilities.
