Registered Nurse (RN) – Full-time Detox Nursing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our detox unit on a full‑time, mid‑shift schedule (4 p.m. – 12 a.m.). Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses, you will guide patients through the detox process, provide education, and support the medical and psychiatric care team.

Key responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and ensure proper storage, reconciliation, and security.
• Conduct nursing assessments at intake, including CIWA and COWS evaluations, and perform ongoing shift assessments.
• Document patient care, assessments, and changes in condition in the Electronic Health Record.
• Coordinate with physicians, ARNPs, the Clinical Treatment Team, and the Chief Nursing Officer on patient status and treatment plans.
• Prepare discharge assessments, paperwork, and required reports for insurance patients.
• Respond swiftly and calmly to medical emergencies and withdrawal complications.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Nursing with a current RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a detox or similar treatment facility.
• Current CPR certification.
• Detox and psychiatric nursing experience, including ability to recognize withdrawal signs and medical emergencies.
• Strong critical‑thinking and decision‑making skills with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with ASAM criteria and JCAHO standards of care for behavioral health.
• Experience using an Electronic Health Record system.
