Registered Nurse – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to deliver patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent environment. This position supports a variety of clinical units, providing high‑quality nursing services on an as‑needed basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review diagnostic tests, report findings, and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team, and facilitate smooth transitions of care.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to support patient outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and operate medical equipment safely.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Ability to adapt to changing work demands and maintain high standards of patient care.
