Registered Nurse – Per Diem (GYO – Sylvester)

About the role

The Registered Nurse – Per Diem provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent manner within the University of Miami Health System. This part‑time, temporary position supports a diverse patient population while overseeing nursing and allied health staff in daily practice.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic tests, consulting with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and assess care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures and treatments, providing culturally appropriate information and psychological support.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests, maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families and team members, ensuring HIPAA compliance and smooth transitions of care.
• Assist with discharge planning and serve as a preceptor for new staff, offering guidance and constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
