Registered Nurse – Pediatric Oncology (Per Diem)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Registered Nurse specialized in Pediatric Oncology to deliver patient‑family centered care. The RN will work collaboratively with physicians and allied health staff to ensure safe, evidence‑based treatment for children with cancer.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and serve as a preceptor for new staff.
• Operate medical equipment safely and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
