Registered Nurse - PACU - Per Diem Days

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) on a per‑diem basis. This position provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent environment, adhering to evidence‑based standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients and document nursing care.
• Report symptoms, changes in condition, and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions, and physician orders.
• Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic test results.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and culture.
• Perform patient tests and safely administer medications, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate the plan of care to patients, families, and team members in compliance with HIPAA.
• Utilize resources to assist in discharge planning.
• Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to deliver superior patient care.
• Adapt to changing work demands and environment.
• Operate appropriate medical equipment.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
