Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Full-Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to join our Operating Room team. This full‑time position provides direct patient care, supports surgical procedures, and ensures a safe, compassionate environment for patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Operate medical equipment safely and assist with discharge planning.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in an operating room setting.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health‑safety guidelines, and nursing care methods.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
