Registered Nurse – Oncology Specialty (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) to join its oncology specialty team. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered care, ensuring culturally competent, evidence‑based treatment for oncology patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical assessments.
• Review and report diagnostic test results to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates must complete BSN within 2 years).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
