Registered Nurse – Neurosurgery Stepdown (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a Registered Nurse to provide patient‑family centered care on the Neurosurgery Stepdown unit. The RN will work in a culturally competent environment, applying evidence‑based standards of quality, safety, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care, assess patients, and modify treatment plans based on responses and physician orders.
• Oversee daily practice of nurses and allied health staff, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Review and report diagnostic test results, consult with physicians and other professionals to develop care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate records, and communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and supporting their integration into the unit.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN hires must complete BSN within two years).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license with current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience, preferably in acute or step‑down settings.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, and health‑safety guidelines.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
