Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Part-Time, Day Shift)

About the role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for its medical surgical unit in Glendale Heights, Illinois. The position is part-time, day shift (7:00am to 7:30pm) with rotating weekends and holidays, at 24 hours per week. Starting pay is $37.50 per hour, with a stated range of $33.94 to $57.08.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients covering physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, regularly reviewing and revising them as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatments, medications and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
• Ability to work as a team player within a unit.
• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
• EKG (based on patient; see the EKG and Advanced Life Support requirements document).
