Registered Nurse - Emergency (Night Shift)

About the role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Glendale Heights, Illinois, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its emergency department on the night shift (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.). Starting pay is $37.50 per hour, with a pay range of $33.94 to $57.08. Eligible applicants may receive a $25,000 sign-on bonus for the 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients' physical, mental and emotional health.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings and patient needs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care by collaborating with physicians, nurses, social workers and therapists.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Document assessments, care plans, interventions and outcomes accurately in the patient's medical record.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 12 months of lead EKG experience (required).
• Acute hospital experience preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
• Proficiency in acute-care nursing; ability to use abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans.
• Most employees need at least 12 months after orientation to reach proficiency.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs.
• Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification preferred; other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CCP and AVADE preferred depending on unit.
