Registered Nurse – Infection Control

About the role

The Columbia VA Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse specialized in Infection Control to join the Acute Service Line. The nurse will work directly with Veterans, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, age‑appropriate care while preventing and managing infections.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with a focus on infection prevention.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate infection‑control strategies.
• Educate Veterans and family members on infection‑control practices.
• Monitor compliance with infection‑control policies and report findings.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the patient record.

Required profile

• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Graduate of an ACEN‑ or CCNE‑accredited nursing program.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Eligibility for state licensure if completing a master’s‑level bridge program.
• Ability to obtain a temporary Graduate Nurse Technician appointment if licensure is pending.
