Registered Nurse ICU

About the role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Glendale Heights, Illinois, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its ICU unit. The schedule is 36 hours per week, days 7:00am to 7:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. Starting pay is $37.50 per hour, with a pay range of $33.94 to $57.08.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnoses.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitor patient responses and adjust care plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and document care in the electronic medical record.
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff, keep the environment safe and clean, and respond promptly to life-threatening situations.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license; additional licensure or certification may depend on the unit or state.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Previous experience in a specialty area, previous EKG interpretation class, and prior Cerner or EPIC EMR experience are preferred.

Required skills

• Critical care nursing knowledge and clinical skills, including EKG interpretation (based on patient population).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based programs and accurate EMR documentation.
• Organization, prioritization, problem-solving and critical thinking.
• Preferred certifications: BLS, FCCS, BEKG, CCNS, CEN, NRP-A, TNCC, PALS instructor, S.T.A.B.L.E.
