Registered Nurse – Hematology Oncology (Full-Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Hematology Oncology unit on a full‑time basis. The RN will provide direct patient care, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high‑quality clinical outcomes for oncology patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Perform patient tests, safely administer medications, and keep accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Prioritize assignments, operate medical equipment, and adhere to university and unit policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Active Registered Nurse license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in oncology or hematology.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, and health‑safety guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
