Registered Nurse – Gastroenterology (GI) – Hiring Event

About the role

The University of Miami is hosting a Gastroenterology (GI) hiring event on September 17, 2026 for Registered Nurses and Technicians. This full‑time RN Specialty position provides patient‑family centered care within the GI department, overseeing nursing and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform appropriate patient tests within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate medication records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while respecting HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to ensure safe transitions.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and support their integration.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Applicable certifications as defined by the department.
