Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to join its Emergency Department. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered care, ensure safety and quality, and support a culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to facilitate patient transitions.
• Prioritize assignments, operate medical equipment safely, and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Active RN license in the State of Florida.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
