Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Intensive Care (Full-time)

About the role

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Department at the University of Miami is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality care to critically ill cardiac patients in the UTower unit.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic test results to guide patient care.
• Consult with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age, culture, and psychological needs.
• Administer medications safely, perform appropriate patient tests, and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Assist with discharge planning, transition of care, and use of medical equipment.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
