About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Cardiothoracic Stepdown unit. This full‑time position provides direct patient care in a fast‑paced, academic medical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring cultural and age considerations.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and comply with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members while protecting privacy.
• Participate in discharge planning and coordinate use of resources for smooth transitions of care.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Active Registered Nurse license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No prior experience required; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, nursing care methods, and health‑safety guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both oral and written.
