About the role

The Crohn's and Colitis department at the University of Miami seeks a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty to provide patient‑family centered care at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The role emphasizes culturally competent, evidence‑based nursing within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Report symptoms, vital sign changes, and diagnostic test results; consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members; coordinate discharge planning and transitions of care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and support.

Required profile

• Current RN license and appropriate education (e.g., Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
• Experience in specialty nursing, preferably in oncology or gastroenterology.
• Ability to deliver compassionate psychological support and adapt to changing work demands.
• Strong communication skills and adherence to HIPAA and university policies.
