Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty – Emergency Department

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 to provide specialty, patient‑family centered care in the Emergency Department. The role focuses on delivering culturally competent, evidence‑based nursing services while supervising allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, condition, and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Provide psychological support and consider age and cultural factors in care.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate medication and treatment records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while respecting HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and prioritize assignments to achieve superior patient outcomes.
• Operate medical equipment safely and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Minimum two years of relevant nursing experience.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.

Required skills
