Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty – Emergency Department (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 to provide specialty care in its Emergency Department. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered, culturally competent care while supervising nursing and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and operate medical equipment.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and prioritize assignments to achieve superior patient care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, guiding them in clinical practice.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
• Valid Florida RN license and required certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS).
• Minimum two years of relevant nursing experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
