Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty (Emergency Department) – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty for its Emergency Department in Miami, FL. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered care, oversee nursing and allied health staff, and ensure high‑quality, culturally competent services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the healthcare team, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing guidance and support in direct patient care.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, technical proficiency with office software, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
