Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty, Emergency Department (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to join its Emergency Department. This full‑time position provides direct patient care in a fast‑paced, academic hospital environment, supporting a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and monitor vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
• Review and report diagnostic test results to evaluate patient condition.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while respecting cultural and age‑related considerations.
• Provide psychological support and foster a compassionate care environment.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and comply with regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members in accordance with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, supporting their integration into the department.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Minimum two years of relevant nursing experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
