Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty Circulator (Full-Time)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 to serve as a Specialty Circulator. The RN will deliver patient‑family centered care, ensure safety and quality, and support a culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and diagnostic results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and uphold university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
• Active State of Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant nursing experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Proficiency in operating medical equipment.
